Hockey Clothing
Ice hockey is a huge sport in North America, and the market for equipment reflects this. The sport has grown in popularity worldwide as well, partly because of the advent of synthetic ice.
Goalie pants have thicker thigh, pelvic and hip pads for protection. Goalie jocks are also referred to as jills, are characterized by less protection from groins and have more padding on the front of their cup.
Apparel
Hockey players have a lot of protective gear because the sport involves speedy skating on hard surfaces. It is often physically intense, with players frequently colliding even intentionally. Besides ice skates and sticks, the typical player's safety gear includes a helmet (with a visor or full face mask) shoulder pads, chest protector, elbow pads mouth guards, gloves, heavily cushioned shorts (also known as hockey pants or jock athletic protective, for males; and a jockstrap for females, or a "jill" for females) as well as a pelvic protector (known as a girdle for women), and thigh, the tailbone, hip, as well as shin pads. A neck protector can be worn.
In recent years technology has been utilized to reduce the weight of ice hockey gear and make it more useful. For example, many companies are now using carbon composites for stick shafts, and specialized foam can be found to make shoulder pads more lightweight without the protection they provide. Other improvements include 3D scans that accurately calculate a player's body proportions to ensure that elbow pads, knee pads and shinpads are crafted to fit each player.
As more people become acquainted with the sport, and synthetic ice surfaces are built across the globe to allow players to play in areas with no natural ice, the market for hockey will continue to grow. The number of female hockey players has also grown which is a good thing for the market.

Jerseys
Jerseys are the uniforms worn by hockey players. They are typically made of thicker materials than jerseys worn in other sports, and they have long sleeves. The jerseys are adorned with the team logo on the front and the player's name on the upper back and the player's number between 0 and 99. Some jerseys also sport the letters "C" and an "A" on the back, indicating the team's captain and alternate captain.
There are two kinds of NHL jerseys, authentic and replica. Genuine jerseys feature the same design and are made from the same material. Replica jerseys can be made from different materials (usually less expensive) and might not have the exact design as authentic jerseys.
The majority of NHL teams have three or four sets of jerseys that are worn during games, and they also have a few unique sets for things such as heritage designs and charity events. Each jersey is fitted with an elastic band sewn into the inside back known as a fight strap which must be fixed to the player's pants during a game to stop the sweater from being pulled over a player's head in a fight.
The Authentic Pro is a top-tier NHL jersey made of high-performance fabrics, with multilayered tackle twill and 3D embroidery. It also features reinforced stitching. Both men's and woman's styles are available. The Authentic Premier is a lower-tier version of the Authentic Pro, and it is designed to mimic the look of the jerseys that players wear on the playing field.
Shirts
The jerseys, or sweaters of a team are the most well-known clothes. They feature the team's primary logo on the front, and typically have a secondary logo on the shoulders. The number of the player is located below the player's name, which can range from 0 to 100. The team captains wear the capital "C" to the left of their jersey logo. Two other players, designated as alternate captains, wear an "A".
Most NHL teams have an alternate sweater that is worn on special occasions like the Winter Classic and Stadium Series. Many teams also have a throwback or retro option for their home jerseys. Third-sweater sweaters allow teams to experiment with different designs, and are often a base for the development of their primary sweaters.
Vancouver Canucks' sweater is a beautiful combination of modern and traditional design. The black and blue jerseys have a striking look to them that makes it easy to pick out on the ice, while the white stripes offer contrast. The Canucks also sport a unique font on their names and numbers that enhances the clean and crisp look of the jersey.
